A professional service with a good quality product. I did a fair amount of research and settled on this local company for the quality of the system they provided. After buying a cheap alternative 7-8 years ago which wasn't worth installing I'm looking forward to a quality output.

I was very impressed with HCB Solar and their attention to detail. There was an issue with my mains supply and potential issue with the solar integration but Anthony and the installation team were upfront and made sure there was a plan of action to investigate and rectify.

They never palmed me off, took full responsibility for the issue and ensured the solution would work. I am glad I went with HCB and got a premium product.

Our Solar Inverters

Quality inverters are just as important as quality panels and we can show a selection of these excellent brands. So you get the right inverter supplier for your solar panel system:

The Enphase IQ Microinverter design is the safest choice for solar. Enphase solar never contains high-voltage direct current (DC) power, eliminating the risk of DC arc fault fires.

SMA

More than just a PV inverter: with the integrated SMA Smart Connected service, it offers all-round comfort and quality for PV solar system operators and installers alike.

Fronius Primo is the ideal compact single-phase inverter for residential and small-scale commercial applications with power categories from 3.8 to 8.2 kW

SolarEdge Home models are compact single inverters designed for residential properties and small-scale commercial solar installations.

Frequently asked questions

Most solar panels are made of silicon crystalline cells (which are called photovoltaic cells) and are created into two forms: monocrystalline and polycrystalline. Monocrystalline cells are made from a single crystal, while polycrystalline cells are made from many different crystals. These cells are then on a plastic back-sheet and supported within an aluminium frame, topped with a front glass plate for protection.

Solar panels produce the photovoltaic effect, which is the process by which solar cells produce electricity when exposed to sunlight. Photovoltaic cells do this by allowing photons – light particles – to free electrons from atoms, which generates electricity.

Adding solar panels to your home or business can make you money in different ways. The first is the money you make in savings once the payback period is complete. In NSW, solar panels can reduce your electricity bill by approximately $400 per year per kW, so a small 3kW solar system can save you up to $1,200 a year ($300 per quarter). Another way solar panels can make money is through feed-in tariffs. A FIT is the payment you receive from your electricity supplier for using the excess electricity your solar system generated and sent to the grid. Different electricity retailers can offer different rates, so it’s worth shopping around.

Generally speaking, natural rainfall should take care of most dust or dirt. However, if you live in an area with less rainfall or there is significant build up on the panels that is noticeably affecting your generation performance, like bird droppings or grime, then a clean might be in order. If you don’t wish to do this yourself, most companies will offer a maintenance service.

If you want to do it yourself – pick a cool time of day (very early morning would be best) and DO NOT use any high pressure equipment. Your garden hose should suffice, or some gentle soap and water with a non-abrasive sponge (like you would use on your car, so as not to scratch it) will do the trick for tougher build up.

Because solar energy is well-regarded by Australians and reduces overall living costs by reducing your electricity bill, it can make it much easier to sell your home and even to rent it out should you be looking at turning your home into an investment property.

Solar panels can be covered under your home contents insurance, so you will need to contact your insurer and increase the amount your home is insured for according to the cost of your solar system.

The average lifespan of a solar inverter is up to 10 years with regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

The number of solar panels you need depends on the size of the solar system you have for your home. We have solar packages for 3, 5 and 8kW solar systems that include the estimated number of panels needed to run your home. For example, a smaller 3kW system will use between 9-11 solar panels, while a bigger 8kW system might use between 22-28 solar panels. It will depend on the size of your home, your electricity needs and the space available for setting up your solar system.

The length of the payback period depends on the size of your solar system and electricity habits, but on average solar panels pay for themselves within 5-7 years for most Australian households.

While solar panels do require regular cleaning to remove dirt, dust or debris, they should run well with minimal technical maintenance over their 25 year life span. Should you require technical assistance with your solar panels, we provide technical service and repairs, regardless of who installed your system.

25 years is the average lifespan of a solar panel and it’s usually around this time that you will need to upgrade your solar system. Currently, the only dedicated photovoltaic recycler in Australia, that we’re aware of, is Reclaim PV who claim they can recycle up to 90% of the materials in solar panels.

The Solar Credits Program is part of Australia’s Renewable Energy Target which provides small-scale technology certificates (STCs) for qualifying residential solar installations, which can be redeemed for a dollar value deducted from the cost of the system. These certificates are based on where you live, the certificate value, and the deeming period (which decreases annually until it is phased out in 2030). For more information about solar credits and how they affect you, get in touch with us today.

No, solar panels do not generate electricity at night. However, many households use solar batteries to continue benefiting from producing their own electricity at night.
